Give me stuff to edit (for science!)
Feb. 24th, 2015 11:53 pmIf you're following me on twitter, you might have noticed that a) around the end of last year, I got a job editing audiobooks for a bb!publishing house and b) I was stuck for over two months editing a project that just wouldn't end!!!! (it's still not over, but it's on hold for now).
Now, being stuck editing the same narrator for over two months has left me with a really poor opinion about my editing skills. I honestly no longer know how long it takes me to edit a page's worth of audio (that's ~2.5min, give or take 30sec) and I'm really curious to try working with various voices and recording/reading styles and see how it goes.
So, until the end of March, I'd love it if some of you could send some raw recordings my way to fiddle with and see how things go. Pretty please? I know the editing process can be very personal to some podficcers, while others would give anything not to have to do it themselves. If you happen to have the raw recording to something you've already edited yourself, it would be perfect - you already had you way with it, it's not urgent and we can compare notes at the end, if you'd like. If you're in the second category and have something that's under 2k (and you're not planning on posting soon), feel free to throw it my way.
So far, I have two offers (one of which, I already got the files for and I'll get on it as soon as I'm done with urgent work stuff), but I'd love to have more voices to work on.
Oh, and if you have suggestions for stuff I should watch out for and take notes, feel free to suggest :)
As a reference, it takes me ~20min to edit a page of my own reading, ~10min to edit a page read by our newest narrator and ~1h for each page read by the guy I was stuck listening to for the last two months.
